CASE THROWN OUT

The challenge by nine political parties that emerged as the losers from the elections of November 27 and 28 last year has failed on technical grounds. In two judgments delivered by Judge President Petrus Damaseb and Judge Collins Parker, the judges agreed that the parties' election applications against both the presidential and the National Assembly election had to be struck from the court roll because both applications were filed late in terms of the court rules and the Electoral Act.

The court ordered that the parties have to bear the legal costs of the Electoral Commission of Namibia and Swapo in the case. Please visit The Namibian for details of the verdict.

The verdict stunned opposition members but gave the ruling party reasons to celebrate:

  • Let us trust the Lord that good will come from this ruling.
  • Pray that all involved in this case will put Namibia and our democracy first.
  • Intercede that all involved will do thorough self-examination and choose to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord and continue to do what is best for Namibia and her people.
  • Pray for unity in the nation and support for the president to prosper Namibia to the advantage of all Namibians.
