Bible in Dhimba

The translation of the New Testament (Etestamende Epe) into the Oludhimba language is completed, and available for use by members of the OvaZemba community in the Kunene Region. According to Reverend Johannes Tolu, Head of the Dhimba Bible Translation and Literacy Project, it took 15 years to translate the complete New Testament, from Mathew to Revelations.

At least 3,000 copies of the OluDhimba Bible are available throughout the country. There are just more than 30 000 Dhimba speakers in Namibia and Southern Angola.
  • Thank God who longs to show himself to people everywhere and enable them to live as the people he made them to be.
  • Praise Him that the Bible has power to help people of all backgrounds in every situation and at all times.
  • Thank you God for a Bible Society presence and ministry in Namibia.
  • We praise you Praise God for the new OluDhimba translation.
  • We trust You that the followers of Jesus in the OvaZemba community will grow in knowledge and love of God and neighbor, and will shine as lights to all around (Matthew 5.16).
Pray with us: Wonder-speaking God, you created all there is by the power of your word and renew us daily by your life-giving Spirit. We give thanks for the Scriptures that you give us the wisdom leading to salvation through Jesus Christ, and that teach, train and correct us. We pray for all involved in the translation, distribution and production of the Bible worldwide, and for all who help people understand and live by it. Lord, so shape your people by your word that we will bring life and hope to all around us through Jesus, your living Word. We ask this for your glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

PREPARE TO VOTE

Namibia celebrates its 24th independence anniversary this year, the same year in which all eligible Namibians will go to the polls in November during the country’s sixth national elections.

The process to register voters for the national elections is on the way. The Electoral Commission of Namibia yesterday said 122 025 people had registered to vote countrywide by Sunday. The registration exercise will run for 42 days, until 2 March this year.

Every Saturday, there will be a special prayer meeting for all Christians at Gospel Outreach, Hochland Park, at 6 am to 7 am to pray for Namibia and the Elections of 2014.

Let us cover the process that will lead up to the elections in November in prayer. Pray that all party officials and voters will stay calm and patient and that all will do what is right.

Pray for the Electoral Commission of Namibia and their staff. Their task is to deliver free, fair and credible elections, managed in a transparent, innovative and participatory manner to strengthen democracy in Namibia.

Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value a man who speaks the truth. Proverbs 16:13

Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Daniel 2:20-21

He said to the crowd: "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘It’s going to rain,’ and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It’s going to be hot,’ and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time? Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right? Luke 12: 54-57

670 000 KIDS TO LOVE

Today more that 670 000 kids will start or return to schools all over Namibia.
Let us remember our education system, our schools, teachers and children in our prayers:

Pray for Dr David Namwandi, minister of education and his staff. Also pray for the leadership in the various regions and at all schools. They need God's wisdom now to address the enormous challenges of 2014. Lord, we pray that you will grant our educators wisdom as they deal with an ever-changing society. Help them to remember that every effort is an opportunity to change a life, to inspire, to energize, to bring out that special gift you have blessed to each and every one of us.

Pray for each and every teacher. Our children and our future are in their hands. We pray for each teacher and child who are believers, that they will carry the message of Jesus Christ  to school every day. Lord, we pray for the strength and endurance of our teachers. We pray for their patience. We pray that when results are not apparent, may they be reminded that it is your time table that counts, Lord. And may they not be discouraged.

There is a serious shortage of teachers, especially those who can teach Maths, English, Science and Setswana. Trust God to provide the right educators.

A serious shortage of class rooms, especially in the north. Tents will have to be pitched to accommodate the many scholars. Pray that building project will get on the way soon.

The Khomas and Erongo regions with the highest number of scholars - placing pressure on the infrastructure. Pray for godly solutions for ever challenge.

Christ came to live with us as a teacher.
He encouraged us with his wisdom, his truth, and his endurance.
He taught so that others may teach the world.
May those who will influence and shape the minds of our youth,
continue to be ever mindful of the greatest Teacher of all.
Bill Swint - 2005

A YEAR OF NATION BUILDING

President Hifikepunje Pohamba in his new year message has called on  the nation of Namibia to look forward with renewed confidence so that our nation will continue to make positive strides in the process of nation building.  I have no doubt that through concerted action, our nation will be equal to the task. Through hard work we will conquer all challenges that we may face in the process of nation building.

Pohamba said the government is determined to continue providing steady leadership and will continue to encourage all people serving in different institutions, in both the public and private sectors, civil society and other stakeholders to build on the momentum that has been achieved so far. He further said success requires dedication, sacrifice, unity of purpose, resolve and perseveranceI demand prudent utilization of public resources and ethical conduct on the part of public servants.

The President called on all public office-bearers and on each and every civil servant to make our public institutions more efficient and more productive. Let us work together to make the year 2014 a year of success in all we do and a year of efficient service delivery, especially to our people who still live in difficult conditions.

Join us as we pray for President Hifikepunje Pohamba and his team in all regions and on all levels of government to trust in the Lord to build the Namibian nation. To invite advisers with godly wisdom to assist them as they address the challenges of 2014. To model lives of righteousness, to work hard towards the goals of vison 2030 and to set an example for this nation to follow.

Let us call on the Lord to make Namibia into a great nation, to  bless us;  to make Namibia a great name, and to make this nation a blessing in Africa and the world.

I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Genesis 12:2
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. Psalms 33:12
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. Proverbs 11:14
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34
