WINDHOEK CITY OF MANY FACES

The charm of the City of Windhoek  lies in its harmonious blend of African and European cultures and the friendliness of its people. Since Independence came to the country on 21 March 1990, it has been characterised by a vitality born of a sense of freedom and pride in self.

Windhoek Is often described as one of the cleanest capitals in Africa and visitors are surprised that this city, considered to be part of deepest Africa, offers all modern amenities that conform to some of the world’s highest standards.  These include hotels, banks, post offices, gyms, libraries, museums, car hire companies, health facilities, railway transport, airlines and estate agencies amongst others.

A well-constructed and regularly maintained road network from Windhoek provides access to majority of towns, nature reserves, parks, safari lodges and tourist destinations in the country.  Public transport consists mainly of taxis, while a bus service provides transport to and from residential areas.

Join us as we let scripture guide our prayers for the city of Windhoek:
  • Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7
  • Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:37-38
  • Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on in Windhoek as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10
  • Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of Windhoek revere him. Psalm 33:8
  • LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time and our city make them known; in wrath remember mercy. Habakkuk 3:2

THE LAST DAYS OF JESUS - EASTER DEVOTIONAL

Thank you for reading this blog!

The events of Easter are among the most important in the Christian faith—the death and resurrection of Jesus, which brought about the end of our separation from God and gave those who believe the promise of new life!

To help Christians prepare to celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin and death, Aaron Armstrong  has written a new devotional called: The last days of Jesus. Click on the link to download your pdf copy now or click on his name to visit his blog.

We pray these devotional readings will be a blessing to all who read them as you prepare your hearts to celebrate the good news of Easter.

Please pray for Namibia as believers and churches also prepare to celebrate the

MEERKAT SCHOOLS MAKING A MARK

The Amos Meerkat School Project (AMSP) is an initiative by a group of women to train the spouses of farm labourers to become teachers and help their children become school ready. [Amos Agrimin is a Christian, multi-racial, inter-denominational, agricultural organisation, focussing on ministry and the empowerment of the agricultural community of South Africa and Africa.]

In Namibia farmers of Amos has started this very special project to make farm children school-ready. A farm worker's wife on the farm who is literate is trained to become the teacher on the farm. The farmer has to supply a room as well as tables and chairs for the learners. They follow a unique syllabus that is Christ-centered. This project has now grown to reach pre-schools every where in the country. For inquiries, please contact the Amos office at 081 148 8993.

Praise God for -

  • More than 40 Meerkat schools that have been established across Namibia.
  • Children from rural areas across Namibia who are getting a good start at an education thanks to the initiative to start farm schools.
  • The hearts of farm children are won for Christ through teaching them about Jesus in a fun and playful way.
Pray for -
  • The massive training program currently on the way to equip more teachers.
  • The plan to roll out this program to start many more pre-schools all over Namibia.
  • The various partners involved in this project.
  • The relationship between "the teacher" and the farmer's wife.
  • The teacher to walk the talk as believer on the farm. That they will set an example and have an influence for Christ among the farm workers.
  • That the teachers will be able to stand against the many temptations of living a life of solitude on farms.

WORSHIP, PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP

Pastors and Church Leaders from the city of Windhoek will meet tonight [Monday, 7 April 2014] at 19:00 for a time of Worship, Prayer and Fellowship at KCC [Khomasdal Community Church].

Let us search the face of God for pastors and church leaders all over Namibia.  Call to build God's Church from the north to the south, from the east to the west. Put yourself in their shoes. Often working alone. Facing challenges ministry. Often being lonely. Financial needs. Lack of wisdom. Stressful situations. Conflict of being a pastor, a marriage partner, a family to care for. Not knowing what to do. Let us come alongside and pray, trusting God to comfort and encourage them.

Here are some prayers:

Lord, as we pray against forces of distraction, let Pastor have a discerning mind to prioritize the precious minutes of his day as well as the agenda of our church. Let him discern what is most important, and be guarded against the tyranny of the urgent (2 Corinthians 11:14; 1 John 4:1). Make Your will abundantly clear to all of us.

Father, allow our pastor and leaders to glory only in the cross (Galatians 6:14). Keep them from pride and pity. Let the glory of the cross be our collective reason for ministry.

We pray that the eyes of our pastor and leaders may be enlightened to know the hope to which we are called, and to know the riches of our glorious inheritance in the saints. Let them know the incomparable power which is in us who believe (Ephesians 1:22). Grant our pastor fresh revelations of Jesus Christ, and the power of His resurrection message, that we may flow in the river of God.
