FESTIVAL OF LIFE NAMIBIA 2014

Much loved Christian preacher Joyce Meyer is coming to Namibia for a one-of-a-kind experience in June 2014. She will deliver life changing messages that will empower and equip believers to live a victorious life! Teaming up with Joyce Meyer is the dynamic worship team from Hillsong, South Africa.

You can get more information and register here at the Festival of Life Namibia 2014.

But first join prayer partners all over the world in lifting up the needs of this event to God for a mighty outpouring of His power and blessings. Stand in the gap for this life-changing event and pray for:

  • Support and co-operation from local churches and organizations.
  • Heartfelt prayer and unity to emerge in the church of Namibia. Pray that many will join the prayer team.
  • Operation Andrew - where people are challenged to bring their friends along.
  • Arrangements for the event. Pray for Dr. Chrisna von Gericke and Tienie Johr in the Festival of Life Namibia office by name. Also for the team of volunteers who are at work on this project. Trust God for many volunteers to join.
  • Joyce Meyer and Hillsong South Africa.
  • A mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
  • For many to hear and be encouraged - we are trusting the Lord for 25000 at the stadium events which is a faith goal for the small Namibian population.

AFREG 3: GOD'S HEART FOR AFRICA

We have been invited to attend the third African Forum on Religion and Government (AFREG 3) in Lusaka, Zambia, from 23 to 27 September 2013.

We are part of the Namibian delegation of 5 leaders. This is a select consultation of 250 Christian leaders from across Africa, who are serving in government, business and the church. The theme of AFREG 3 is Empowering Leadership for Transforming Africa.

The African Forum on Religion and Government (AFREG) began in 2006 and continues growing, expanding and working to equip the Church and her leaders, as well as marketplace leaders, to bring positive change in their respective nations and on the continent.

We trust to learn what is on the heart of leaders for transformation in Africa and build vital relationships with a number of these believers.
  • Bring the team from Namibia before the Lord – pray for a spirit of oneness.
  • Pray for leaders who will travel from all over Africa to Lusaka in the next day.
  • Put all the arrangements, discussions, admin, paperwork, discussion leaders etc before the Lord.
  • Trust God that brothers and sisters will open their hearts for one-another, to love and learn from fellow believers.
  • Join us in the expectation that this will also be a time for the leaders of Africa to kneel before God to show His heart for the people of Africa.
  • Pray that He will give all delegates insight, wisdom and courage to participate in and contribute to the discussions.
  • Ask God to show up, lead by His Holy Spirit and use AFREG 3 to put not just a good plan, but God's plan on the table.
  • Praise God for friends, both local and in the US, who made it financially possible for us to fly to Lusaka and attend this event. Praise God for Afreg 3.
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Deuteronomy 4:39

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5

I will only post a new prayer item after 30 September
Kindly keep us, the delegation
and  AFREG 3 in you prayers this whole week.

MIGHTY MEN MOVEMENT

This week-end is the annual M3 Camp for Men (Mighty Men Movement) on a farm near Windhoek.

Pray that men in Namibia will make it right with God. Pray that they will invite Him into all their relationships, at home at work, at the church and in the community. Trust that Godly men will become a mighty movement for God in Namibia.

You can use these points from Promise Keepers to intercede.

The Problem of Wrong Relationships:

With God: If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me. (Psalm 66:18)

With family: Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them (wives) with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. (1 Peter 3:7)

The Problem of Pride: There they will cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men. Surely God will not listen to empty talk, nor will the Almighty regard it. (Job 35:12,13)

The Problem of Hypocrisy: And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of streets, that they may be seen by men. (Matthew 6:5)

The Problem of Wrong Motives: You ask and you do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. (James 4:3

The Problem of Lack of Forgiveness: Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, ten come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:23,24)

The Problem of Lack of Compassion: Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and will not be heard. (Proverbs 21:13) “…This is the fast that I have chosen…share your bread with the hungry, and bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked cover him…Then you shall call and the Lord will answer. (Isaiah 58:6,7,9)

The Problem of Failing to Forgive:
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, ten come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:23,24)

WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

Suicide is a very serious issue in Namibia. Well-known psychologist Shaun Whittaker has done research on suicide issues in Namibia and claims: "Namibia has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world. I've also found that the two main groups affected by suicide are teenagers and young adults ..."

Statistically figures show an annual increase of 12 percent. In 2011 an overwhelming total of 489 Namibians committed suicide. In 2010 the number of people who took their own lives was 432.

World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is an awareness day observed on 10 September every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides, with various activities around the world. The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Federation for Mental Health, to host World Suicide Prevention Day.

As of 2011, an estimated one million people per year die by suicide or "a death every 40 seconds or about 3,000 every day.  According to WHO there are twenty people who have a failed suicide attempt for every one that is successful, at a rate approximately one every three seconds.

Suicide is the "most common cause of death for people aged 15 – 24." More people die from suicide than from murder and war; it is the 13th leading cause of death worldwide. According to WHO, suicide accounts for nearly half of all violent deaths in the world. Brian Mishara, IASP president, noted that, "more people kill themselves than die in all wars, terrorist acts and interpersonal violence combined."The number of people who die by suicide is expected to reach 1.5 million per year by 2020.
  • Pray that young and old will realize their own value in the eyes of God, family and friends.
  • Pray for teachers, family and friends to be aware of what is going on in the lives of those around them.
  • Trust God that people will realize the importance of relationships,  invest time and find out how those they know are.
  • Ask for a new spirit of prayer for those in need of tender loving care, encouragement and value.
  • Trust God that we will all realize that: You cannot be replaced!
How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. Matthew 12:12

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Luke 12:24

LAUNCH OF TEACH EVERY NATION

Dr. Bruce Wilkinson, known to millions of people all around the world as a dynamic and anointed speaker and author is committed to a new ministry called TEN. TEN stands for “Teach Every Nation”. Why TEN? In simplest terms-because Jesus’ Great Commission instructed us to go into all the nations and teach everyone the Bible so that they would become His disciples.

TEN seeks to train pastors, business persons, teachers, and Church leaders across the world (in every nation) with a new and revolutionary curriculum that will better equip them to grow their church, plant new churches, and transform their communities.

All of the live courses are one-day in length - each having eight sessions. The simulcasts are three days in length (September 11 - 14) to enable everyone who so desires to participate. TEN will be launched with Leadership, Christian Living, and Communication. The following courses will be presented:

  • How to Double Your Church, Business, and Personal Productivity.
  • Releasing God’s Abundant Blessings
  • Anyone can become a Great Communicator
Pray for:
  • The launch of TEN (Teach Every Nation) in Namibia and various countries in Southern Africa.
  • The goals of TEN - to train pastors, businesspersons, teachers, and Church leaders across the world.
  • Pastors to be equipped and use the training to grow their churches, plant new churches, and transform their communities.
  • All believers to become deeply desirous to become more like Christ and become more effective for Christ.
  • God's blessing upon the sites in various nations of Southern Africa - for good attendance; receipt of the simulcast signal and life change.
For more information or the attend in Namibia call Tienie at 061-258006.
Visit TEN (Teach Every Nation) and read Bruce Wilkinson - Teaching the Nation

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:19,20

SAN - MINISTERS OF THE WORD

In June  2013 eight proponents from the San People of Namibia were legitimized in Grootfontein as preachers of the Gospel -  among the San by the San! Now the San have their own people in their own language , with their own experiences and emotional understanding of the Word as guides . These are Namibia's first trained San proponents , called , ready and full of hope to go and work in their own churches.

There were many challenges to overcome -
  • The highest qualification among the students was only eighth grade.
  • They will not be admitted to any university
  • Greek and Hebrew would be very difficult to master.
  • They were already struggling with English as a second language.
However under the leadership of Dr. Jan Woes from Namibia and Prof Malan Nel of the University of Pretoria's Center for Contextual Theology they came up with a godly solution. Ministers of Dutch Reformed Church in Namibia, Dirk de Vos , Koos Engelbrecht and Hendrik van Zyl as well as Amanda Engelbrecht attended an intensive course and acted as lecturers of the university for the San students.

In the end, with God's help and grace the students and their teacher's hard work were rewarded. The successful candidates appeared before the Namibian Curatorial to answer questions to be admitted to ministry. And on June 30 this year the eight San candidates were finally legitimized as proponents of the Reformed Church in Namibia after 5 years of sacrifice, hard work and perseverance!

  • Praise God for His plan and children who trusted Him for the results.
  • Pray that God will use these San believers mightily amongst their people.
  • Trust Him that the San Churches will be able to look after their ministers.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:7

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
2 Thessalonians 1:11

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
 Ephesians 4:1
