SAN - MINISTERS OF THE WORD

In June  2013 eight proponents from the San People of Namibia were legitimized in Grootfontein as preachers of the Gospel -  among the San by the San! Now the San have their own people in their own language , with their own experiences and emotional understanding of the Word as guides . These are Namibia's first trained San proponents , called , ready and full of hope to go and work in their own churches.

There were many challenges to overcome -
  • The highest qualification among the students was only eighth grade.
  • They will not be admitted to any university
  • Greek and Hebrew would be very difficult to master.
  • They were already struggling with English as a second language.
However under the leadership of Dr. Jan Woes from Namibia and Prof Malan Nel of the University of Pretoria's Center for Contextual Theology they came up with a godly solution. Ministers of Dutch Reformed Church in Namibia, Dirk de Vos , Koos Engelbrecht and Hendrik van Zyl as well as Amanda Engelbrecht attended an intensive course and acted as lecturers of the university for the San students.

In the end, with God's help and grace the students and their teacher's hard work were rewarded. The successful candidates appeared before the Namibian Curatorial to answer questions to be admitted to ministry. And on June 30 this year the eight San candidates were finally legitimized as proponents of the Reformed Church in Namibia after 5 years of sacrifice, hard work and perseverance!

  • Praise God for His plan and children who trusted Him for the results.
  • Pray that God will use these San believers mightily amongst their people.
  • Trust Him that the San Churches will be able to look after their ministers.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:7

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
2 Thessalonians 1:11

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
 Ephesians 4:1
