WATER FOR THE POOR

The Namibian reports government moves closer to subsidizing water for the poor. Although thousands of water points have been set up in rural areas, many households can not afford to pay for the water.

According to statistics Namibia have more than 84 000 households regarded as poor with the highest number of poor households is in the Kavango and Ohangwena regions.
Subsidizing the water could cost the taxpayer up to N$28,7 million a year. Successful implementation requires a complicated and costly system.

Let us not forget the poor in our prayers. Pray for the authorities for wisdom to take up their responsibility to also look after the poor. Pray for those who have, to share with those who are in need. Each time you open your tap, do it with a grateful heart and a prayer that we, who can fill our cups, will also share a cup of water with those who are thirsty.

I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward
. Mark 9:41
