Pray for all who work so that the Church (believers) in Namibia can unite with believers all over the world in prayer on Pentecost Sunday.- Pray that hearts and church doors will open up for the idea of united prayer.
- Trust that many more places in Namibia will join the Global Day of Prayer movement. Pray for contacts in the Ohanwena and Omusati regions!
- Ask that Jesus Christ will be glorified in every meeting!
- Ask the Holy Spirit to move in such a way that many will come to meet the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
- Pray that speakers and worship teams will move in humility and love and that the UNITY in the Spirit will clearly portray the Lord Jesus!
- Pray for Pastor Asaph Kandjeo (red shirt) who will lead GDOP in Okakarara.

Progress with GDOP Namibia
Global Day of Prayer is right around the corner. Many have joined in a season of ten days prayer to meet God with the world on Pentecost Sunday, 31 May 2009. Believers in all 220 countries of the world will be praying the "Prayer for the World". Namibia is participating and many exciting things are happening all over our country.
In Otjiwarongo 15 churches decided to unite at one place for the worship service on Sunday morning and turn it into a GDOP event. There is an air of expectation in that town!
Here in Windhoek many will gather to pray at the Independence Arena in Katutura at 14:00. This year the "Prayer for the World" is for the first time available in local languages like Oshivambo, Oshiherero and Khoekhoegowab (Nama/Damara)! Praise God!
At the time of writing, there will be GDOP gatherings in 45 communities from Oranjemund in the far South to Katima Mulio in the far north-east. Small places like Kalkfeld, Tses, Maltahöhe, Karibib, Otjimbingwe and Aus are on board for the very first time. Rehoboth will also for the first time include GDOP in their yearly Feast of Pentecost.
We are sad that there will be no organized event in the Ohangwena and Omusati Regions or amongst the San Bushmen. On the other hand, by an intervention that could only be God, we have made contact with Pastor Asaph Kandjeo and this year Hereros in Okakarara will again join the world in prayers after an absence of several years. Praise God!
We are also excited to join hands with the AMOS farm ministry as they distributed GDOP requests to their members. We trust that many farms will create an opportunity for their workers to participate in prayers.

This we don't want!
Two visiting lady doctors and their male friend from South Africa were attacked and robbed on a hill in the middle of Windhoek City last week at eight in the morning. He landed in the hospital for a emergency operation. From this hill you have a lovely view of the city. This is the ideal spot to pray for the city! Unfortunately it is also a lonely spot. An ideal place to commit a crime.Our hearts go out to the tourists. As Namibians we are ashamed that this has happened. Our hearts also goes out to all in our country who are targets of crime. We don't want this. And we don't want all the factors that leads to crime.
So what do we want?

Ideal conditions for Malaria
MALARIA continues to take lives and remains a major public health issue, said Health Minister Dr Richard Kamwi at a World Malaria Day commemorative event at Ruacana last Friday. From November last year to March this year more than 3500 case were reported and 135 people died of malaria.
Kamwi called on people to protect themselves against mosquito bites, by using insecticide-treated nets for example, and to inform themselves about malaria prevention and treatment. Kamwi said the recent flooding in the north of the country has created ideal conditions for the breeding of malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Malaria is a leading cause of death among children under five and expecting mothers.

Heavenly father, we appreciate and acknowledge you as protector, healer and Saviour. We realise that you sent your Son, Jesus Christ, into the world as a sign that you dwell among us and to forgive us of our sins. We remember all persons living with malaria and pray for their healing.
We pray for those who live in areas that are prone to this disease and that central government, local authorities and citizens will cooperate to make their environment safe. We beseech you, Lord, to make us more conscious of the things that can be done to prevent the spread of malaria, and what to do when we have contracted it. We pray that health workers working in countries where malaria is prevalent are protected. And for those working to find a cure, protect people from the disease or ease the suffering of those who are ill, be with them we pray.
For those who live in fear of malaria, grant them stillness of the mind. For the millions worldwide who suffer from this disease we pray for healing.

Preparing the young
We were to leave for Opuwo 750 km to the north west of Namibia on Friday morning to teach a parenting seminar. Just as I was writing the prayer request, I received a message that the visit has been postponed. It seems that schools in that part of the northern Kunene Region are on a program of eccelerated exams. Schools will then close earlier to allow repairs of sanitation. Poor sanitation facilities can cause the outbreak of cholera. Teachers and parents are therefore not available for the parenting seminar at this time.
Please pray for children all over Namibia who are writing exams. Keep the flooded areas of the north in your prayers. Also pray for the people of Opuwo. There are many who love the Lord and who are eager to be equipped in their walk with Him. Pray that the the church will play a major role in preparing the young for a lifelong relationship with God.(Some of our friends from Opuwo seen on the photo above).
