The Amos Meerkat School Project (AMSP) is an initiative by a group of women to train the spouses of farm labourers to become teachers and help their children become school ready. [Amos Agrimin is a Christian, multi-racial, inter-denominational, agricultural organisation, focussing on ministry and the empowerment of the agricultural community of South Africa and Africa.]
In Namibia farmers of Amos has started this very special project to make farm children school-ready. A farm worker's wife on the farm who is literate is trained to become the teacher on the farm. The farmer has to supply a room as well as tables and chairs for the learners. They follow a unique syllabus that is Christ-centered. This project has now grown to reach pre-schools every where in the country. For inquiries, please contact the Amos office at 081 148 8993.
Praise God for -
- More than 40 Meerkat schools that have been established across Namibia.
- Children from rural areas across Namibia who are getting a good start at an education thanks to the initiative to start farm schools.
- The hearts of farm children are won for Christ through teaching them about Jesus in a fun and playful way.
- The massive training program currently on the way to equip more teachers.
- The plan to roll out this program to start many more pre-schools all over Namibia.
- The various partners involved in this project.
- The relationship between "the teacher" and the farmer's wife.
- The teacher to walk the talk as believer on the farm. That they will set an example and have an influence for Christ among the farm workers.
- That the teachers will be able to stand against the many temptations of living a life of solitude on farms.
