PREPARING THE CHURCH

Church leaders and congregation members
are invited to a great meeting of the Church in Windhoek.

Sunday Evening 3 August at 6pm
Preparing the Church for the End Times

Church at the Crossroads  – Gateway Conference Centre, Khomasdal.

Pastor, you and members from your church
 are most welcome.
Come for a wonderful time
of  Worship, Prayer and Fellowship.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.

More info: Roy Wallace 0811278867 or 061-220623

The word "church" as rendered in the New Testament comes from the Greek term ekklesia which is formed from two Greek words meaning "an assembly" and "to call out" or "called out ones." In summary, the New Testament church is a body of believers who have been called out from the world by God to live as his people under the authority of Jesus Christ. (See Ephesians 1:22-23)

Pray for this meeting and for the Church in Namibia. Here are some scripture to consider:

His people under the authority of Jesus Christ: And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,  which is his body, the fulness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:22-23

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18

They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. Acts 1:14

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:25

Christians are ambassadors for Christ.
They are representatives from Heaven to this dying world.
And because of our presence here, things will change.

STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR LEADERS

More than 50 Christian leaders will attend a one day strategic planning workshop presented by international speaker, Gary Schwammlein on Friday 8 February here in Windhoek.

This workshop is using the widely acclaimed Patterson strategic planning process, called StratOp, a planning tool that has shown its value in diverse organizations and cultures.

The StratOp process guides leaders to clarify mission, vision, and core strategies—and then to create the right structure and accountability to realize it through prioritized action initiatives.

Pray for leaders as they focus on:
  • Clarity of vision
  • Creativity and new ideas
  • Alignment and unity
  • Focus on what is most important
  • Increased performance and minimized waste
Namibia continues to need qualified leaders. Trust God that He will fill the gap with the right men and women.

And the Lord answered me:
“Write the vision; make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2 ESV

THE NEED FOR LEADERS

Leadership Training continues to be one of the greatest needs in Namibia.

I like the definition from Blackaby in his book Spiritual Leadership. Leadership  is "moving people onto God's agenda."

The Bible says "my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. " One of the tools available in Namibia to train Christian Leaders is the John Maxwell MLM (Million Leader's Mandate) materials.

Last week Winning with People were presented in Windhoek and four Namibians were certified as trainers. In the photo above are Glaudi Kearney, Dawie Fourie (Trainer), Ruben Petrus, Nick Klazen, Jacques Uys, Chrisna von Gericke (Trainer). They are now equiped to move people onto God's agenda.

Leadership takes place in four relationships - with God, self, others and creation; and is guided by four principles - intimacy, integrity, influence and transformation. We need Christian leaders submitted to God, in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to transform Namibia.

Pray for the leaders in Namibia to have a biblical world view, to dillegently apply biblical principles, to equip others and to help bring biblical transformation in all spheres of influence in our country.

TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

The African Leadership Institute (ALI) is a non-profit organization in Namibia with the ambition to equip and develop leaders to transform Africa. ALI present leadership development schools to emerging and established leaders from the business sector, church, educational system and government. The curriculum focuses on Servanthood, Influence, the Truth and Results as four key leadership pillars throughout the training to ensure that transformational leadership development takes place.

More than 400 leaders have now been equipped at ALI. Please visit www.thenamibiandream.info/leadership for more information.

This week-end 26 couples (Alumni from ALI) will attend a marriage seminar. Praise God for leaders that realize, to be a leader at the work place, you have to be a leader at home. Pray for the presenter couple Dawie and Chrisna Fourie. Intercede for marriages in Namibia, especially for those who hold leadership positions, that they will set the example.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called. Ephesians 4:1

NAMIBIA AT GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

This week on 6 and 7 August 2009 leaders from all over the world will gather at Willow Creek for the Global Leadership Summit 2009. In the face of cultural upheaval, economic crisis, and escalating human need our world calls out for leaders who will persevere: who will maintain their character, integrity, and resolve. See http://www.willowcreekglobalsummit.com/

Leaders everywhere have been charged with a high calling. This is a time of great need and great opportunity and we are grateful for a number of government, business and church leaders from Namibia who are attending the summit.
We hold a deep belief that if you change a church leader, you can change a church, and if enough churches start changing, you can change an entire region, country, and eventually the world!

Willow Creek is also delighted to partner with us in Namibia to bring The Global Leadership Summit here to Walvis Bay. Call Charmaine at 064-204027 to book your seat for this DVD-facilitated summit on November 6-7, 2009 today! Seats are running out fast.

Bill Hybels writes: Show me a leader with a growing heart of faith in God and a gradually improving set of leadership skills, and I’ll show you someone who can put the enemy on the run! The fact that we are in a battle is inescapable. The question is, what battle would you rather be in, and who would you rather be in it with? For myself, fighting for the local church and ensuring it achieves its redemptive potential with other Christ-following brothers and sisters is the highest marching order I could ever receive.

Pray for the summit and the Namibians who are there. Trust the Lord that they will return with fire in their hearts. Please pray that every leader in Namibia would take their role seriously, and would arm themselves for the battle around them and live their mission as the Spirit gives grace and power.
